We're about to leave the UK today, and we're currently at Heathrow airport waiting for our flight to Rome. As this is the first chance we've had to get onto the internet, I'll try to give a quick summary of the last few days!

We had a long flight over, as Russell was not well for the last leg from Hong Kong to England. He's ok now, which is great. We picked up a hire car at Heathrow - and they had lost the keys to the car we booked, so after a long delay we were given another car, a Saab turbo with lovely leather seats and a very spacious boot. So it worked out really well. Russell throughly enjoyed driving it, so much so that I didn't have a hope of ever getting behind the wheel.

We found out the value of satellite navigation while meandering through England. Our SavNav took us through little cute villages and tiny lanes only one car wide. Such fun! It also took us right up the middle of a pedestrian mall in Bath.

The first day here, we saw Stonehenge and Bath, and stayed in Bristol. Had a bit of a walk around Bristol in the morning, and enjoyed finding John Wesley's first church. Then we were off to Shropshire via Wales. We drove past the awe-inspiring ruins of Tintern Abbey on the way. This day involved lots of driving in the rain, but the Shropshire countryside was beautiful. We took Kelsey's gear to the school she is staying at next year, and met the Burser and the Deputy Headmistress. After a guided tour of the school buildings, which are so old, and could be straight out of Hogwarts school, we had tea with the Deputy, and headed off to Stratford-upon-Avon for the night.

The next day in Stratford, we walked around the town, seeing Shakespeare's birthplace, and the church where he was buried. The sun was shining, and teh River Avon had swans on it, and life was great.

Then off to London the next day, and lunch with Michael (my cousin) and Anne. So much to do - and my internet time is nearly over. We met up with the Schusters in London, and are travelliing to Rome with them. Check out their blog at http://shoey.travellerspoint.com

They are on the internet more than us, as they have BA club membership!

Have to run
